Carmen Yates, adopted by the Spencer family, is supposed to marry one of her three brothers. But instead of love, they treat her coldly. Meanwhile, Savannah Cook, the maid's daughter mistaken for their savior, gets all their care and affection. Heartbroken, Carmen marries their young uncle, Frank Spencer, instead—but everyone calls her a liar and attention seeker. When the truth is revealed, her brothers beg for forgiveness, but Carmen leaves without looking back.
