After saving wealthy heir Jim Yale, Jane Shaw—a poor fish seller—marries him and lifts her family into high society. A year later, she returns from studying abroad, pregnant with the child of Hank Dunn, a mercenary leader. She not only betrays Jim but also plots to steal his entire fortune to support her unborn child. Disillusioned by her heartlessness, Jim reveals his true identity at the Drako Banquet, determined to make Jane regret her selfish choices.
